Make Mother's Day extra special with these adorable Mother's Day handprint crafts that come with free printable templates!

Mother’s Day handprint flower crafts for kids printable templates.

These sweet and simple Mother’s Day crafts for kids are a fun way for them to create a heartfelt gift for Mom, Grandma, or another special mother figure. Whether you are making one at home, in the classroom, or as part of a daycare or preschool activity, these handprint art printables turn a little paint and a tiny hand into a gift that will be treasured for years.

Handprint crafts are always a favorite with kids because they are easy, hands-on, and fun to make. They make wonderful activities for toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarteners, and early elementary kids. Little ones love the sensory fun of paint, and grown-ups love having a snapshot of just how small those hands once were. These Mother's Day printables are not only cute and festive, but they also create a sentimental keepsake that families will want to save.

To make things extra easy, I created free printable Mother's Day handprint templates. The designs include a "I Love U Mom" printable, a single handprint flower poem craft, and a mom-and-child handprint flower keepsake. They are a great way to celebrate Mother's Day with a homemade touch.

Supplies Needed

  • Mother's Day handprint printable template (PDF file format)
  • Cardstock or heavy paper for best results
  • Printer and ink
  • Washable, non-toxic paint
  • Paintbrush or sponge brush
  • Paper towels and/or baby wipes
  • Black marker or pen
  • Optional: frame, glitter, stickers, or other decorative accents

How to Make These Mother's Day Handprint Crafts

How to Download and Print

  1. Click the "Get It Here" button below the Mother's Day handprint template you want to use. Each design is offered as an individual PDF file, so you can download just the printable you need.
  2. Save the PDF to your computer or device so you can easily open it before printing.
  3. Open the file in a PDF viewer such as Adobe Acrobat for the best printing results.
  4. Load your printer with white cardstock or heavy paper. This is recommended because it holds paint better, making the finished craft sturdier and more durable.
  5. Check your printer settings before printing. Set the print quality to Best or High Quality and make sure the page is set to print at the correct size.

Prepare the Paint

Set up your crafting area with newspaper, a disposable tablecloth, or another protective surface to make cleanup easier.

Pour a small amount of washable paint onto a paper plate. Red, pink, or coral work especially well for the flower handprints, but you can use any colors your child likes.

Add the Handprint

  • Use a paintbrush or sponge brush to apply a thin, even layer of paint to your child's hand. Carefully guide them to press their painted hand onto the printable in the correct spot.
  • Let the paint dry completely before adding names, dates, or extra decorations.

Personalize the Craft

Once the paint is dry, write the child's name and the year on the page to make it even more special. This is such a simple detail, but it makes the keepsake even more memorable.

You can also decorate the printable with stickers, glitter, or small drawn hearts. Try using different paint colors to match Mom's favorite shades. If you want the craft to last for many years, you can frame it or laminate it after it dries.

Another cute idea is to create a keepsake each year and save them in a folder or memory box so Mom can look back and see how much those little hands have grown over time.

Display or Gift It

These handprint crafts make wonderful homemade Mother’s Day gifts from kids. You can place one in a frame, tuck it into a gift basket, use it as a card, or simply give it on its own as a keepsake Mom will love. They also look adorable displayed on the fridge or a bulletin board.

Why You'll Love These Mother's Day Handprint Printables

These crafts are easy to prep, inexpensive to make, and perfect for creating a thoughtful gift with minimal supplies. They are great for toddlers and preschoolers because the templates do most of the work for you, while still allowing kids to create something personal.

They are also a great idea for classrooms, daycare, church groups, and homeschool activities. Since the printables are ready to go, they make crafting simple while still feeling special.

Each one of these crafts is a homemade gift full of love. Tiny hands do not stay tiny for long, which is what makes these keepsakes so special!
