Free Printable Halloween I Spy Game for Kids

This Halloween activity is perfect for some festive fun. Whether you’re hosting a Halloween party, planning a classroom activity, or just looking for a festive game at home before trick-or-treating, this Halloween printable will surely be a hit with kiddos of all ages.

Not only is this printable game super fun, but it’s also incredibly easy to set up. You don’t need fancy supplies—you only need printer paper and a writing utensil. It’s a great screen-free activity that encourages kids to focus, count, and get into the spooky spirit. It’s also a great way to improve your child’s observation skills.

This printable’s design has an eerie spider-web theme packed with festive icons! Your kids will be searching for all sorts of Halloween-themed goodies—jack-o-lanterns, ghosts, bats, witch hats, and more. Each item is detailed enough to be engaging but not too tricky for younger players. An answer key is also included so you can check the correct answers.

    Supplies Needed

    • Printer paper or white card stock: I highly recommend card stock because it offers the best quality and durability.

    • Halloween I Spy Game PDF File (with answer key included)
    • Pencil, pen, marker, or crayon to write with.

    Get it now

To get the file, click the “Get it now” button above. For added durability, print it on white cardstock. Make sure your printer settings are set to the best quality and that the “Fit” option is selected in your PDF print sizing options.

You can also laminate it so it can be reused multiple times. This is especially useful in classroom settings or for families who plan to use the games year after year. Using dry-erase markers, kids can mark off items, then wipe the sheet clean to start again.

    How to Play

Print the Game Sheet: Print out the game sheet. Ensure each child has their own copy.

Explain the Objective: The game aims for kids to find and count all the Halloween-themed objects hidden in the picture, such as ghosts, pumpkins, witches, bats, or other spooky icons.

Start Spying: Give the kids some time to carefully look at the picture and count each type of object. They can use a pencil to mark or circle each one as they find it.

Fill in the Answers: After counting, the kids write down the number of each item in the corresponding boxes at the bottom of the game sheet.

Compare and Discuss: Once everyone is done, compare the answers to the answer key to see who found all the items correctly.

Make it Challenging (optional): To make the game more exciting for older kids, I recommend adding a competitive element. Setting a timer or offering small prizes for the most accurate completion can turn the activity into a fun contest. This approach not only keeps kids engaged but also encourages friendly competition.

Coloring Fun (optional): Let the kids color in the images as they find them. This adds an extra layer of creativity to the game. Get more Halloween coloring pages for kids!

    2. Grab Some Supplies: Hand out markers, crayons, or colored pencils—whatever your little ones prefer to use for circling or crossing off the items they find.
    3. Start Spying: Let the fun begin! Kids will have a blast searching for each Halloween-themed item.
